Lauren Greer

Lauren Greer advises schools, charter schools, education service providers and clients with Georgia legislative and regulatory needs. Her practice focuses on education, charter schools, legislative policy, government affairs and the operational issues facing schools and education-focused organizations.

Lauren assists education clients with board governance, labor and employment matters, special education compliance, student discipline, education funding, policy development and operational strategy. She brings particular depth in Georgia education policy and public funding, having worked closely with state policymakers on charter schools, school improvement, accountability, flexibility and K-12 funding issues.

Before joining Fortson Blalock, Lauren was a partner at Gilbert, Harrell, Sumerford & Martin. Earlier, she was of counsel at McGuireWoods LLP and Vice President of State Government Affairs with McGuireWoods Consulting. She began her career with the Georgia General Assembly, as an analyst in the Senate Budget and Evaluation Office and Senate Research Office. In those roles, she supported appropriations work, policy research, legislative tracking and education-policy development for members and committees of the Georgia State Senate. She later served in the Office of Legislative Counsel drafting legislation.

Lauren also served as a policy analyst with the Council of State Governments, Southern Legislative Conference, where she supported policy committees, published research on regional trends, coordinated continuing legal education programming and provided research assistance to elected officials in 15 southern states. She earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia and her J.D. from the University of Mississippi.
