Ryan Germany

Ryan Germany advises businesses, candidates, elected officials, governments, campaign committees, nonprofits and regulated entities on political, election, campaign finance, investigations and regulatory matters. His practice is built around high-stakes public-law issues where legal judgment, public-process experience and litigation awareness must work together.

Before entering private practice, Ryan served as General Counsel to the Georgia Secretary of State, guiding the office through some of the most contested and heavily litigated elections in Georgia history. Prior to that, Ryan practiced commercial litigation at a Chambers Band 1 litigation firm in Birmingham. His practice includes election law, campaign finance compliance, government investigations, state regulatory enforcement and complex commercial disputes. He also counsels businesses and nonprofits on regulatory and compliance matters.

Ryan previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Securities for the State of Georgia, where he oversaw state regulation of the securities and charities industries, including investigations and enforcement actions under the Georgia Uniform Securities Act and Georgia Charitable Solicitations Act. He has represented or advised clients in matters involving Congressional oversight, Department of Justice inquiries and other government enforcement actions.

Before co-founding Fortson Blalock, Ryan was a partner at Gilbert, Harrell, Sumerford & Martin. He graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law and received his undergraduate degrees, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia.
